Nearby Quinta do Pisão is another rewarding place for walking. This rural landscape of trails, woodland and agricultural land forms part of an important rewilding project led by Cascais Municipality. Sorraia horses and Miranda donkeys already help manage the landscape, while Iberian red deer were reintroduced in 2024. Roe deer are also part of the area’s wider ecological restoration plans.
Visitors exploring Quinta do Pisão, the Marmeleiros area and the hills around Peninha may be fortunate enough to see some of these animals. They roam in natural or semi-wild areas, so sightings are never guaranteed—and observing them quietly from a respectful distance is part of the experience.
The project is not simply about adding animals to the landscape. Grazing and natural movement help open clearings, support biodiversity, reduce combustible vegetation and make the ecosystem more resilient to wildfire. Estoril Classics: 18–20 September 2026
Motorsport history returns to the legendary Estoril Circuit for Estoril Classics. The event brings together classic Formula 1 cars, sports cars, GTs, touring cars and motorcycles, attracting enthusiasts, teams and collectors from Portugal and abroad.
